So-Safe Corps Apprehends Crime Suspect, Recovers Arms in Ogun

The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, popularly known as So-Safe Corps, has arrested a crime suspect, Usman Abdullahi, and recovered dangerous items in Ijebu-Ode.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the State Commander of the Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, through the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf.

According to the statement, the arrest was made around 12:30 p.m. on July 26, 2025, by a team led by the Ijebu Zonal Commander. The operation followed credible intelligence about suspicious activities behind the Central Mosque, commonly known as Zanga, in Ijebu-Ode.

The suspect, Usman Abdullahi, 29, a resident of Zanga in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area, was apprehended and searched. Items found in his possession included a locally-made pistol, a waist charm suspected to be used for spiritual fortification, a knife, a sparkler (explosive device/firework), and substances suspected to be narcotics.

Commander Ganzallo stated that during preliminary interrogation, the suspect confessed that the firearm belonged to one Basiru, whose whereabouts are currently unknown. He also admitted to being involved in the sale of illicit drugs.

The suspect and the recovered items have since been handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Igbeba Area Command, Ijebu-Ode, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Commander Ganzallo reassured residents of the professionalism of So-Safe officers and encouraged the public to continue providing useful and timely information that could help prevent criminal activities in the state.
